Overview
Through the Skookum Micro-Grant Program, our organization awards grants to those who embrace our mission of creating opportunities for people with disabilities. Furthermore, Skookum will award grants to those who strive to make the communities where we work and live more equitable and promising. In 2010 our grants will fund programs which directly support the needs of our employees, their families, and our communities.

Skookum seeks to provide funding to those who share our aforementioned commitment and whose proposals address one or more of the following:

  • Expand opportunities for persons with disabilities
  • Enhance employee opportunity for upward mobility and self-sufficiency
  • Build sustainable elements within Skookum and our community
  • Reinforce Skookum’s commitment to continuous improvement
  • Inspire creative and meaningful concepts

2010 Funding Focus
Skookum will award grants to individuals seeking financial assistance to support efforts which positively impact the communities where we work and live. As a general guideline, in 2010 we will give the greatest consideration for grants which fall into the following broad categories:

  • Education and Knowledge
  • Health and Well-Being
  • Accessibility

What we Fund
Grants will be awarded through a highly structured and criteria-based review process. It is our organizations intention to provide funding for the strongest and most comprehensive proposals.

What we Don’t Fund
We will not directly provide financial capitol or scholarships for individuals.

Amounts, Process, and Timetables for Funding
In 2010 we anticipate funding more than one grant. The total grant money will not exceed $15,000 and will be split between the winning proposals based on meeting the criteria, merits of idea and total social impact.

Grant applications must be submitted by 4pm, July 16th, 2010. Electronic submissions are preferred, please email proposals to microgrant@skookum.org . If you need to submit a hardcopy proposal, turn it in to your division manager by 4pm on July 16th and ask him/her to email microgrant@skookum.org to confirm they have received it and will be passing it on to Marie Campanoli or Jennifer Keil in Skookum’s Bremerton Office.

All applicants will be given an opportunity to present their respective proposal before an Evaluation Board. An Evaluation Board will be comprised of Skookum peers and local community members. Grant awardees will be notified by letter or in person before August 13th 2010.
