Counseling on Post-Secondary Programs
Pre-ETS Post-Secondary Counseling empowers students by promoting awareness of comprehensive transition and post-secondary educational opportunities. We coordinate and facilitate campus visits and tours, help students explore and compare secondary programs, and mentor with applications, admissions, and FAFSA processes. Students learn to access disability offices, advocate for necessary accommodations, and identify their learning preferences and goals.
The program also supports students in researching career and educational options, participating in preparation classes, and exploring financial aid and grant opportunities.
Additionally, we help students familiarize themselves with educational and vocational laws, as well as awareness of possible accommodations for admission tests, ensuring they are well-prepared for their future.
Jump to TopJob Exploration
Pre-ETS Job Exploration helps students explore career options and make informed decisions about their future by fostering motivation and providing valuable insights into the world of work. Through vocational assessments and interest inventories, we help students discover their strengths and career preferences.
The program includes discussions about labor market information, in-demand industries, and occupations, giving students a clearer understanding of potential career pathways.
We also assist students in identifying areas of interest and guide them in beginning a career portfolio, setting a strong foundation for their professional journey.
Jump to TopSelf-Advocacy
Pre-ETS Self-Advocacy empowers students to understand their rights and responsibilities, teaching them how to request the accommodations and support they need during the transition from school to a post-secondary program or employment.
Students receive guidance on when and how to disclose their disability, request accommodations, and navigate decision-making with confidence.
The program emphasizes self-determination, goal setting, and developing intrinsic motivation, while fostering a deeper self-awareness of their strengths and needs. Leadership training is also provided, helping students take charge of their future by knowing their rights and how to request and accept help effectively.
Jump to TopWork Readiness
Pre-ETS Work Readiness is one of the most impactful components of the Pre-ETS services, equipping students with essential skills for both the workplace and independent living. Focusing on social and interpersonal skills, students learn the importance of effective communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and professionalism, while developing a positive attitude, active listening, and empathy.
The program also teaches critical decision-making, conflict resolution, and body language awareness to ensure students are prepared for any professional environment. In addition, students gain vital independent living skills such as time management, financial literacy, personal hygiene, community safety, and how to access essential services. From using transportation to managing money, this program provides students with the tools they need to thrive both professionally and personally.
Jump to TopWork-Based Learning
Pre-ETS Work-Based Learning provides students with valuable hands-on experience in real, competitive workplaces, helping them develop the skills and knowledge needed for future career success. Through paid and non-paid work experiences, volunteering, and student-led enterprises, students engage in meaningful opportunities that prepare them for the workforce.
The program also includes work-based learning activities such as informational interviews, job shadowing, and job site tours, allowing students to explore various industries and gain firsthand insights into potential career paths.
